Hockey is introduced to Djarragan College
As part of the partnership with Pass Australia, the remote hockey program delivered an introduction to hockey session at Djarragan College and targeted the vocation education trainees.
These trainees are undertaking certificate 2 courses in community recreation which gives them 4 credits towards their senior certificate. Hockey will return to Djarragan later in 2010 as part of a new program.
Djarragun College is situated on the Bruce Highway just north of Gordonvale. The College was set up expressly for the delivery of excellent educational programmes to indigenous Australians. The College promotes excellence in education with a strong emphasis on values education which are underpinned by Christian values. Currently students come from the Torres Strait Islands, Cape York communities, Cairns, Yarrabah, Gordonvale, Aloomba and surrounding suburb.
