13 Talented Young Indigenous Hockey Players will attend Townsville Development Camp

In partnership with Hockey Australia, the Remote Hockey program is delivering a hockey camp to support talented young indigenous hockey players in representing Queensland and Australia.

This camp - the first of its kind will look to identify the current standards of fitness and skills, compare them to the level of fitness and skills displayed by current Queensland and Australian representatives  and ultimately plan programs to support them in reaching their goals.

Young people from Cairns, Townsville and Mackay were invited and will be involved in a 2 day camp which involved testing at James Cook University, assessment of skills at Townsville Hockey Association Hockey Facility and working through game strategy with Regional Coaching Directors, Hockey Queensland Coach Manager and the QAS/NTC hockey coach.

In addition they will be invited to the Hockeyroos -v- Argentina Hockey Test match and will be given the opportunity to meet Hockeyroos when they attend the camp on Friday
