Remote and Indigenous Hockey travel to Mount Isa region to deliver Beginners and Community hockey coaching courses

On the 10th May 2011, Community Hockey Coaching Courses are being delivered in Cloncurry as part of the AASC, Mount Isa Hockey and Remote and Indigenous Hockey partnership to develop and advance the local hockey programs in the region. On 11th and 12th May 2011 Community and Beginner Hockey Coaching Courses will be delivered as part of overall support to the program.

These coaching courses follow a series of community coach training workshops in the Boulia Region. Mount Isa Hockey is looking to develop and support the local hockey program by using the experience and expertise of the remote and indigenous hockey program. This program has designed special coaching courses based on the national programs and modified to meet the local needs.

These coaching programs are designed to support the delivery and development of Hook in2 Hockey Programs in this region culminating in a completition in early June 2011 in Mount Isa to highlight the new skills. It is also designed to provide pathways for young people in isolated communtieis to play in competition not normally available.
