Hockey Queensland Nth Queensland Rubies part of the Indigenous Pathways Support Program
This Program is a partnership between Hockey Australia Inc and Hockey Queensland Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program designed to offer greater support and opportunities to indigenous players, coaches and umpires in their challenge to be selected in state and national programs. This is a 2 year pilot program which will include specialized training programs to identified players, coaching and umpiring scholarships and develop coach and athlete mentor programs to built internal support programs which will assist the athlete, coach or umpire to achieve their goals. We acknowledge the support of the Australian Sports Commission, Queensland Academy of Sport and Queensland Government for their ongoing commitment to the advancement of these programs. We also take the opportunity of acknowledging and recognizing the role of the Hockey Queensland Regional Coaching Network coaches to the future success of this program and look ahead to a new and exciting partnership which will build community capacity and capital through-out Queensland

CARMON MCPHEE ,BEC FATNOWNA and JASMINE CLELAND gain selection in the 2011-2012 HOCKEY QUEENSLAND STATE UNDER 18 SQUAD
The Indigenous Pathways Support Program is a partnership between Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland Remote and Indigenous Program to increase the number of indigenous hockey players being selected in regional, state and national programs. Of the 11 athletes involved in this program, 7 attended the recent State Championships in Townsville representing 5 different regional associations. Carmon, Bec (Cairns) AND Jasmine (Rockhampton) were selected to join Kazzia Lamon who is already identified and included in a national futures program. Congratulations to all the identified athletes who competed.
SAMANTHA MORGAN - a member of the Indigenous pathways Support Program invited to attend HOCKEY QUEENSLAND DRAG FLICK CLINIC IN BRISBANE
Samantha will travel to Brisbane on 3rd November and join other young girls from Queensland who have been identified as being future drag flickers in regional, state and national programs.
Carmon McPhee a member of the Indigenous Pathways Support Program will play in the Australian Under 21 Country Team at the Oceania Championship in Fiji in December 2011. Carmon has worked very hard to gain these honours and we wish her all the best

Attached is the schedule outlining training and interviews associated with the production of the DVD LEADING THE WAY.
The RIHP Nth Qld Rubies is the first recognized indigenous hockey team to compete abroad an an international competition. 9 young talented indigenous female hockey players from Rockhampton, Mackay and Cairns will be coached by the RIHP Senior Coach - Wes Ferns and managed by RIHP Development Officers Ena Waianga and Dalassa Savage. The journey of the team and support staff will be captured through a documentary DVD being produced with the support of Hockey Queensland RIHP, Hockey Australia and the Queensland Government. Filming of training and player interviews and local coaches in Rockhmapton and Mackay have been competed with good press coverage. This journey outlines the challenges, the commitment and the hard work that young indigenous girls are prepared to make to achieve their goals.
All members of the HQ RIHP Nth Qld Rubies will arrive in cairns today 16th Jan 2012 to begin team preparations for the Singapore Tour and International Competition. Team members from Rockhampton and mackay travelled to Cairns via Qld Rail Travel Train. The camp includes preparation for the international 6's competition as well as the 11 a side development program which sees the Rubies and the Cairns team join together to play the Singapore Hockey Academy in 11 a side preparation.
All team members trained well the first morning of the camp. It was over 30degrees in Cairns when the members oft he Rubies completed the morning session which will mirror the temperature and condition in Singapore in early March 2012. ABC FNQ Radio attended and crossed live with interviews by Carmon McPhee the team captain and Julie McNeil - Program Manager.
The second day of the camp was designed to focus on Singapore and what was required to be successful as a team on and off the field. Morning trainings focued on individual and team on field skills whilst the middle of the day focused on off field activities, information sessions on international travel, respecting local laws and customs and generally the roles of the group while we are away. Night time was practice matches with games scheduled against cairns teams. Great work girls we are all looking forward to the next 5 weeks until Singapore

Trials for the Under 18 Hockey Qld Under 18 Boys and Girls Teams begin 3rd February 2012. The Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program wishes all players the best in particular those talented young indigneous hockey players LEADING THE WAY to greater opportunities.
Carmon McPhee who will captain the Nth Qld Rubies, the first indigenous hockey team to compete internationally in Singapore 3rd and 4th March 2012 was named as a shadow selection in the 2012 State Under 18 Womens Hockey Team. We congratulate her and wish her all the best in her future endevours.

Cairns Sapphires and RIHP Rubies will combine to play in 2 11 a side games against the Singapore Hockey Academy in preparation for the Singapore 6's. RIHP and CHA hope this development innovation and partnership can be ongoing and have designed uniforms to highlight how our 2 organizations can come together in mutual benefit.

The RIHP Nth Qld Rubies have arrived in SINGAPORE after being presented with uniforms especially designed to reflect the combining of QUEENSLAND SPORT AND CULTURE
A History making tour by the RIHP Nth Qld Rubies is now complete with team members returning to Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton. Plans are underway for the 2012-2013 Program which may extend across the whole of Queensland

Carmon is part of the Queensland Under 18 State Hockey Team playing in Newcastle for the national Championships. Carmon led the Rubies to an equal 3rd position in the International Singapore Sixes competition in march 2012 and is part of the Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland Indigenous Pathways Support Program

RIHP Program has a full week of programs to support and promote the hockey programs across the Far North. RIHP will be interviewing both the Kookaburra's and Black Sticks to air on RIHP Hockey channel. RIHP will be planning some regional competition with Mossman playing a team from the Torres St island hockey program The Rubies are coming to town to provide mentor support, role model opportunities, playing the local cairns Under 18 team and finally to premier thescreening of the DVD - Leading the Way
The Kookaburra's and New Zealand Hockey Teams are in Cairns to play a 3 test series leading up to the London Olympics. The access to both teams has been great and RIHP Hockey is producing some great articles on the RIHP Hockey You Tube Channel
On Saturday 23rd June 2012, the DVD Leading the Way was launced with a series of special guests, family, friends and hockey supporters
RIHP Hockey will travel to London to take part in the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards and be part of the 2012 London Olympics. RIHP through their community support program and the RIHP Rubies - the first international team to compete internationally is shortlisted for Beyond Sport Team of the Year
