Murgon Hook in2 Hockey begins
On the last weekend in May 2012, hockey will be introduced into the community of Murgon for the first time through Hook in2 Hockey supported by the RIHP Hockey Program and local community supporters. Congratulations to all involved and GOOD HOCKEY

RIHP supporting Positive or its Pointless Programs
RIHP Hockey continues to support the Positive ot its Pointless message to parents and supporters involved in junior hockey by incorporating positive messages into Hook in2 Hockey Programs. RIHP Rubies Coach and RIHP Senior Development Officer Wes Ferns presented medals, shirts and provided equipment support to highlight the success of the program across the Cairns Region What CHA and RIHP Hockey has is a true partnership with community opportunities being taken up and a team of young indigenous girls actively participating in regular weekly competition, learning new skills, being encouraged to choose healthy foods, learning the importance of going to school and understanding respect and responsibility. All these programs are being reinforced while young indigenous girls are enjoying and having fun playing hockey. Parent and community support is high across this program and RIHP has similar programs running across 45 communities in Cape York, Torres Strait, Gulf Sport and the north west Regions of Queensland
AASC Regional Partnership with RIHP Hockey strengthen links from community to club programs
AASC and RIHP Hockey has confirmed partnerships in North West, Gulf, Cape and Torres Strait Regions which will support the development and advancement of pathways from community to regular club participation. These plans and programs have been in development for over 3 years

Exciting Hockey partnership - Pass Australia Hockey Challenge
Programs begin in Mossman, Cairns, Kuranda, Gordonvale, Babinda Innisfail and Yarrabah and will include HOOK IN2 HOCKEY, HOCKEY ED AND COMPETITION- all designed to increase the hockey awareness with young indigenous youth and create future employment opportunities
RIHP welcome MURGON Hook in2 Hockey
The RIHP and volunteer hockey supporters in Murgon Qld have joined together to start a local hockey program. RIHP will subsidize Hook in2 Hockey program, providing coach and officaiting training and offer support and assistance with equipment to help get the programs off the ground. We wish the program well and we will keep you posted on facebook on the program of the program.
Small Steps to Success - Remote Hockey Pathway Programs working
Remote Hockey would like to congratulate Brad Nixon who made the 2012 Peninsula Hockey team. Brad first was introduced to Hockey through the Tagai and Remote Hockey partnership on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. Brad's selection shows that the pathway programs from Hook in2 Hockey and Community partnerships can be transitioned into club participation in Cairns and then regional selection through the school hockey competition The partnership with Tagai State College is strengthening each year with Hook in2 Hockey Programs, Coaching and Officiating Programs across the Torres Strait culminating in the Migi Kokan Hockey competition each year.
Mount Isa Junior Hockey is back in 2012
The partnership between Mount Isa Hockey and Remote and Indigenous Hockey is a strong example of how partners working together can achieve successful results. After many years of servicing hockey for adults only, Mount Isa Junior volunteer members have been working with RIHP for 2 years to get Junior Hockey working again. Queensland Government through Sport and Recreation Services supported this partnership with Inclusion Funding Support for the whole north west region and success has followed. All 4 clubs in Mount Isa has 2 junior teams with further teams being developed locally.
RIHP NTH QLD RUBIES CAPTAIN - Carmon McPhee playing in the National Under 18 Hockey Championships
Carmon is part of the Queensland Under 18 State Hockey Team playing in Newcastle for the national Championships. Carmon led the Rubies to an equal 3rd position in the International Singapore Sixes competition in march 2012 and is part of the Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland Indigenous Pathways Support Program
Einasleigh Hook in2 Hockey an example of multi purpose facilities -OUTBACK STYLE
The RIHP has as one of its principles - the meeting of community needs. Families involved in Distance Education have been working with RIHP for nearly 15 months and during this time, equipment, skills and coaching have been delviered to these families and Distance Education formed a team for Gulf regional competition in 2011. The occassions these families can get together and development and advance thsir skills in few but EINASLEIGH SPORTS GALA at Easter is one such opportunity. The multi purpose facility in Einasleigh is the RACETRACK with HOOK IN2 HOCKEY one day and the RACES the next.
Holiday Hockey Clinics comes to the Rainforests of FNQ
Hockey is being delivered in Wujul Wujul these holidays as part of the PCYC partnership. Ena and Dalassa our Development officers will be travelling into the Daintree Rainforests through some of the oldest rainforests in the world to deliver hockey to this isolated community
Mossman Gala Hook in2 Hockey Day
Over 70 young people from schools in the Mossman, Daintree and South Cape Region travelled into Mossman on Friday 30th March 2012 and participated in a GALA HOOK IN2 HOCKEY PROGRAM. Ena Waianga and Matt Cook delivered the introductory hockey programs and promoted the benefits of regular school attendance, healthy food choices and regular exercise through sport participation.

Mount Isa Hockey Association re establish Junior Hockey Competition in NW Qld with support from RIHP
Regular Junior Hockey has returned to Mount Isa as a result of solid support from local volunteers and assistance from the Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program. Hook in2 Hockey was delivered as the sign on for Mt isa on the 18th March 2012. Good luck to all the new and re established members. See you soon for coaching courses and training
RIHP Team back in Cairns after successful Singapore Tour
The RIHP Team is back in Cairns and will be concentrating on supporting the developing hockey programs in the Cairns and South Cape Region, North West and Mount Isa as well as Western Cape York Programs.

A History making tour by the RIHP Nth Qld Rubies is now complete with team members returning to Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton. Plans are underway for the 2012-2013 Program which may extend across the whole of Queensland

The RIHP Nth Qld Rubies have arrived in SINGAPORE after being presented with uniforms especially designed to reflect the combining of QUEENSLAND SPORT AND CULTURE
HOOK IN2 HOCKEY comes to Pormpuraaw
Nth Qld Rubies Coach - Wes Ferns and RIHP Development Officer - Matt Cook engaged with the Pormpuraaaw local community on WEDNESDAY 22nd Feb 2012 as part of the PCYC SPORTS EXPO. Over 50 students and parents expressed interest to be involved in the hockey program in 2012. The Hook in2 Hockey Program in 2012 will introduce basic hockey skills and concentrate on playing small games as its first stage, It will also highlight and promote the importance of healthy life choice especially in areas like diet, nutrition, choosing no alcohol and no tobacco. We also promote the benefits of regular school attendance and encourage raising school attendance during the Hockey prgram. Finally we ensure a Positive Environment at Junior Sport through ongoing posters and other promotions.
RIHP DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS WILL TRAVEL TO MOUNT ISA TO SUPPORT HOOK IN2 HOCKEY AND JUNIOR HOCKEY COMPETITION on 18th MARCH 2012
Ena Waiang and Wes Ferns will be traveling to Mount Isa to be involved in the beginnings of junior hockey in Mount Isa.
