Nth Qld Rubies Captain is a shadow selection in the HOCKEY QLD STATE UNDER 18 WOMENS TEAM 2012
Carmon McPhee who will captain the Nth Qld Rubies, the first indigenous hockey team to compete internationally in Singapore 3rd and 4th March 2012 was named as a shadow selection in the 2012 State Under 18 Womens Hockey Team. We congratulate her and wish her all the best in her future endevours.

Hook in2 Hockey at the MARPOON SPORTS EXPO
Remote Hockey as part of the PCYC partnership will deliver HOOK IN2 HOCKEY Programs in Marpoon on 8th February 2012. Wes Ferns and Matt Cook will be delivering these sessions as part of the POSITIVE OR ITS POINTLESS PROGRAM AND HEALTHY EATING CHOICES INITIATIVES. Mapoon has a population of approximately 300 people. The community is situated 80kms north of Weipa, and is accessable via an unsealed, but well maintained road. There are many beautiful fishing and camping places in Mapoon and it is a popular destination for tourists Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council mapoon.com

Record 44 Hook in2 Hockey sites for the Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program in 2012
The young people of the remote/isolated and indigenous communties of Far North and West Queensland will be participating in the 2012 Hook in2 Hockey Programs and be introduced to hockey and have the opportunity of playing in local and regional hockey competition. Numbers are anticipated to be 400-500 registered on the Hockey Australia data base. Hockey equipment will be provided to the communities and local programs will be designed by the Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program to meet their needs.

Hockey Qld Remote and Indigenous Program gets funding support for the ongoing development of hockey in Mount Isa and the North West Communities
Thanks to funding support from Queensland Government - Sport and Recreation Services - support for coach training, skill development, local and regional competition and pathway programs will be available through the Remote and Indigenous Hockey Program for Mount Isa Hockey and its local and regional partners. Planning is already underway with Hook in2 Hockey scheduled for March in Mount Isa, AASC hockey programs and regional competition in June and regional competition in September 2012.
