Torres Strait Hockey Art presented to Champions Trophy Teams
On Thursday 3rd December 2009 6 sticks painted with totems significant to the traditions and culture of the Torres Strait Island communities were presented to the teams contesting the 2009 Champions Trophy in Melbourne.
The teams were presented with a stick, certificate and booklet detailing the customs and traditions of the Torres Strait Island communities and the hockey programs being delivered there.

The presentations to Korea, Spain, England and Netherlands were made by 2 members of the national indigenous hockey talent development program and Aunty Joy an elder from the Wurundjeri people presented the artwork to Australia and Germany.
