Hockey Art
Remote Program Community Engagement Hockey Art
Why Hockey Art was conceived
- An association with Just Hockey to explore a relationship of selling the art to the public in some form to the benefit of the artists and the program
- Workshops in connections With clinics, competitions and special events
- Positive reinforcement of the programs goals in the community
- Children/adults participate with the view of merging the idea of sport and their own cultural identity
- Bringing the values of merging sport and cultural identity to the public
- Hockey Art has always been one of the most exciting developments of the program and it so continues.
- Hockey Art assists in an understanding of culture and sport and delivers it in an unique way. It also brings a further dimension to the program respecting differences in communities and reflecting their differences in our hockey equipment.
- The artists are supportive of this project and have produced artwork for the development of this project.
- We are looking to take this slowly but it is surprising what interest we are getting to this project.
- We anticipate using Hockey Art at all levels of the program. We intent to display and offer Hockey Art internationally through our community partnerships.
- We also anticipate using Hockey Art during community celebrations with a State-wide Hockey Art Competition and at the remote communities like the Karumba Carnival where the schools bring sticks they have painted with a theme and swap them and also there is a contest associated with the Hockey Art.
- This project continues to grow and we will look to move forward one step at a time using our philosophy of SMALL STEPS.
- We invite you to look at some of the hockey art already produced. Our artists are ready to produce original works for you both on hockey equipment and on canvas with a hockey theme. Remember – part of the proceeds will go to this program so if you support Hockey Art you are supporting this program.
- The artists are flexible with what they will produce. If you are interested in purchasing Hockey Art have a look at the Indigenous Catalogue and an original can be ordered contact - Julie.mcneil4@bigpond.com or Phone Mobile 0418880147
