Sacred Heart School - Thursday Island wins the 2010 Migi Kokan Regional Hockey Championships
In a hard fought battle that went to a penalty shoot out - Sacred Heart School Hockey Team overcame the defending title holders to win their first regional Hockey Title
The game was 1-1 after regular time and in an exciting and action packed shoot out - Sacred Heart became title holders for the first time.
In an even match - very little separated the teams.
Skill levels were high and teamwork and sportsmanship was at its highest standard.
Local Thursday Island teams fought out 3rd and 4th place with positions 5th to 8th filled by Horn island second side , teams from the western islands, eastern islands and Badu island.
Thanks to everyone who participated and supported the program in 2010.
A talent identification squad was named and future development of players and coaches will be planned in 2011.
