Port Douglas wins the 2010 HQ Remote and Indigenous Comunities Youth Hockey Competition
In a close final with Torres Strait/NPA the Port Douglas team scored 2 goals to become the inaugral winner of the Hockey Queensland Remote and Indigenous Communities Youth Hockey Competition.
This competition was established to offer competition to young people playing hockey in communities in Cape York, Torres Strait/NPA and Gulf Savannah and Includes communites in the Tablelands and Cairns Regional Area.
It is hoped this competition can expand to include any teams who wish to be involved in 2011 from across Queensland.
Over 70 young people from 6 teams competed and highlighted the hockey skills developed through the program.
A big thank you to all the supporters who assisted and we look forward to developing this program to offer increased opportunities and pathways into club competition across the state in the future.
