Points of Interest:
1. The Invitation side will be made up of emerging players who have been nominated by Local coaches who wish to develop the skills of these players but are also convinced that they will play a large part in the coming seasons of Hockey in the Gulf region.
2. The Players from the Gulf and Invitational sides will have all costs covered including a. Meals and Accommodation at the Championships.
3. Players at the Championships will be also competing in the recognised format of the Western Games, the competition which is organised by the North Queensland Sports Foundation and will be held over the numerous Shires, during the Weekend. The Western Games will be providing Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals for all competitors, as well as a token of competing at the Games.
4. The competition running between the two regional sides will be a three game series with the overall winner being the team with the best results from: Winning pool games (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.). If the points are level at the end of three games then the overall winner will be decided by Goal difference.
5. Awards on offer for the carnival will be: The Gulf /Cape Regional Challenge Trophy. The Best Player Award, Boys. The Best Player Award, Girls.
6. There will be a new team structure for play. This will be a trial to allow more players on the field at one time, as the fields that are now being used, have been extended in size. If this is successful, then the new format will be presented to the Karumba SS. For inclusion at the next Festival of Sport. The new team format of play will consist of : I goal keeper , I permanent defender , one permanent Attacker ( both players are `restricted to their allocated areas on the field , and four roving players who may travel anyway on the field. This increases the number of players to seven at one time on the field.
