Remote Hockey and Cairns AASC Programs partnership encourages young indigenous people to play club hockey in Cairns
On the 20th February 2010, Cairns Hockey held their annual Hook in2 Hockey sign on Prorgam inviting young people new to the sport of hockey to sign with a Cairns Hockey Club and play club hockey competition, Through the partnerships in excess of 15% of new sign ups were indigenous.
The Remote Hockey Program and Cairns Hockey encouraged the young indigenous people involved in the AASC hockey programs to attend the sign on day to continue enjoying the game o hockey, make new friends and being involved in healthy and active programs.
The Program continues to support AASC programs by delivering hockey programs as part of a managed program through-out Cairns
The Remote Hockey trainee Indigenous hockey development officer oversees these programs and Chris Lucas Benn is looking to increase these programs to the tableland and southern cape regional areas.
