Remote Program and Cairns Hockey partners in hockey programs looking to increase indigenous participation
The current hockey program being delivered by Chris Lucas Benn from the Remote Hockey Program is looking at ways to develop new pathways for young people to play hockey as part of the Club structure within Cairns Hockey Association.
Get Active - Score Goals - Play Hockey Program extends to the Yarrabah Community
In consultation with the Yarrabah Community and Cairns Hockey Associatin Inc, the HQ Remote Hockey Program has started discussions to create a hockey program to meet the needs of the Yarrabah community and young people. This program is due to begin in 2010.
Remote Hockey and Cairns AASC Programs partnership encourages young indigenous people to play club hockey in Cairns
On the 20th February 2010, Cairns Hockey held their annual Hook in2 Hockey sign on Prorgam inviting young people new to the sport of hockey to sign with a Cairns Hockey Club and play club hockey competition, Through the partnerships in excess of 15% of new sign ups were indigenous.
Introducing and Developing Hockey into the Douglas Region of Southern Cape York
Communities including Mossman, Port Douglas, Daintree and Alexander Bay will work with Remote Hockey to introduce hockey participation and training programs leading to inter community hockey competitions
Terry Brodin joins the Remote Hockey Program
Terry Brodin will bring a wealth of hockey coaching experience to the Remote Hockey Program. Terry will begin delivering programs on 20th May 2010 at Port Douglas and will continue a 6 week program across Mossman, Daintree and Alexandra Bay.
Remote Hockey Program to attend Sports Gala Day
The remote hockey program development officers will attend Cairns West Primary School on the 26th November 2010 and conduct hockey sessions as part of a Sports Gala with students from Balaclava State School and Parramatta Park State School.
Yarrabah Community Hockey Program
Discussions will begin on developing community hockey programs within the Yarrabah community in 2010 through PCYC parterships, More information will follow
Talent Identified Hockey Coaches from Remote and Indigenous Communities join Pathways Support Program.
6 identified coaches from Cape York, NPA, Torres Strait Islands and Gulf Savannah have been selected to attend a workshop designed to increase their coaching skills and assist in accessing greater opportunity to coah hockey treams within the program
