Bamaga PCYC now included hockey in school holiday programs
In the recent school holiday programs - hockey programs were included in the program schedule. The Bamaga PCYC is delivering the hockey program as part of their after school and vacation care programs and the young people are really enjoying themselves.
Hockey Coaching Week through the Torres Strait Islands
22nd August - 26th August 2011 will see hockey coaching sessions and coach training programs being offered across the Torres Strait Islands in support and preparation for the delviery of the 2011 hockey program across the Torres Strait Island communities. Ena Waianga and Dalassa savage - Development officers will join Wes Ferns - Senior Development Officer and work with Island communities to strengthen the hockey program.

NPA Holiday Hockey Program begins
PCYC, Remote and Indigenous Hockey and Kids Living Safer Lies have joined in deleivering holiday hockey programs in the NPA. These programs will combine learning new skills, reinforcing healthy choices and encouraging youth leaders across the region ENA WAIANGA AND DALASSA SAVAGE are hockey development officers delviering the programs with the assistance of PCYC Nola Lewin and her team.
2011 Migi Kokan to be hosted by Horn Island in the Torres Strait
Migi Kokan is the regional hockey championship for the Torres Strait Island Region. Migi will be held on Friday 18th November 2011 and it will see 8 teams competing. 3 teams will be flying in by charter flights while 3 teams will be ferried across from Thursday Island. A talent squad will be named and will travel to Cairns in April 2012 to play against Cairns Regional Teams and potentially be identified to be selected in regional team to contest the Under 13 State Hockey Championships.
Planes, Ferries and Buses all required to get Torres St Island hockey players to MIGI KOKAN
The true example of partnership support is on show when coordinators from 7 Island communities together with Tagai College representatives, TSYSRA and RIHP team members all joined together to see young people come together to show off the new skills.
HORN ISLAND - 2011 MIGI KOKAN CHAMPIONS
Horn Island regained the Migi Kokan shield in a hard fought contest with Badu Island. This final highlighted a high standard of hockey through-out the Torres Strait.
