MOUNT ISA READY TO HOST THE INAUGRAL NO SCHOOL NO PLAY HOCKEY CHALLENGE
The 2011 North West Hockey Regional Competition is the first to host the NO SCHOOL NO PLAY Hockey Challenge. This competition is designed to offer opportunities to many young people living in isolated and disadvantaged communities within remote Queensland and in 2011 it has the added value of encouraging and promoting the importance of attending school on a reular basis.
Mount Isa Hockey will host this competition for the first time and it will see young people from communities of Boulia, Dajarra, Cloncurry and Cammooweal come together to show off new skills in a heathy activity.
Supporting your team mates, maintaining a high standard of good behaviour and attending school on a regular basis are all obligations the young poeple have agreed to as a condition on taking part.
The commitment to learn new hockey skills and support each other in the challenge to be successful in this hockey challenge has been a highlight of the program to date.
This is a true community partnership with assistance from Hockey Australia, Remote and Indigenous Hockey, Mount Isa Hockey, AASC, Schools, Queensland Department of Health as well as Gulf Sport and Recreation Association Inc
Good luck to every-one
