Hopevale Hockey Program begins in February 2011
The community of Hopevale in the Cook Shire will introduce a hockey program in the first half of the year providing for skill development, hockey coaching accreditation programs, local hockey competition and pathways to compete in cairns competition in June 2011.
Yarrabah Community joins in 2011 Hockey Program
The Yarrabah community will work with school and community to develop a hockey program incorporating Active participation, Skill Development which will culminate in a competition at Cairns Hockey in June 2011
New Hockey Program included in partnership with Cairns School of Distance Education
A program of introductory hockey sessions will be delivered to the students enrolled with Cairns School of Distance Education as part of the new Remote Hockey Hook in2 Hockey Program
Hopevale Hook in2 Hockey Program begins 14 Feb 2011
After a successful community hockey coach accreditation where 3 local community members were trained in delivery of hockey programs and hockey skill development, the young people of Hopevale began a Hook in2 Hockey Program which will culminate in contesting the Remote Hockey FNQ Regional Hockey Competition in June 2011.
Hook in2 Hockey - A Hit in Hopevale
Over 15 young people in Hopevale are participating in the Hopevale Hook in2 Hockey Program. Weekly sessions will take place at PCYC after school and additional sessions will be offered within school time as part of a coordinated approach to increase the skill and fitness of young people through participation in sport.
Distance Education Students get their first taste of Hockey
Remote Hockey Program Development Officers - Ena Waianga and Dalassa Savage delivered Hook in2 Hockey Programs to students enrolled with Cairns School of Distance Education. This Program has been created through a partnership with Distance Education designed to offer opportunity to these students from isolated communities
Hockey delivery to Cairns Distance Education Students - a success
Close to 100 students enrolled at the Cairns School of Distance Education completed a series of Hook in2 Hockey Programs as part of the new hockey program designed to offer opportunities for students living on remote stations across Cape York and Gulf Savannah learn new skills.

Grade 8 and 9 students at Yarrabah State High School are learning hockey through Hook in2 Hockey Programs run in conjunction with PCYC and the High School
Yarrabah Community confirms attendance at 2011 Cairns Regional Competition
The 3 way partnership between Remote and Indigenous Hockey, Yarrabah PCYC and Yarrabah State School which delivers the Learn Lead Achieve Hockey Program will attend the 2011 Cairns Regional Hockey Competition in June 2011
Cooktown joins the South Cape York Hockey Program
Cooktown will now be running a hockey program designed to encourage young people to learn new skills, understand the benefit that comes from regular physical activity and healthy eating as well as supporting regular school attendance.
Cairns School of Distance Education include hockey visits in school camp schedule
In response to the interest shown by the students of Cairns School of Distance in the Hook in2 Hockey sessions delivered at the beginning of the year, the remote and indigenous program invited students to visit the Cairns Hockey facilities and experience for themselves what its like to play on international facilities
Indigenous Pathways In Hockey
Ena Waianga and Dalassa Savage in their role as Cairns Hockey Under 13 Team assistant coaches are supporting the team competing in the state championships. These young girls are involved in the remote hockey program and both are using this role to engage in hockey, advance their skills and creating greater community awareness of the opportunities for indigenous people in hockey
Distance Ed Students will receive opportunities to play hockey competition in July 2011
As part of the LEARN LEAD ACHIEVE Program, the partnership between HQ Remote and Indigenous Hockey Development Program and Distance Education will provide opportunities for families to learn new skills and be involved in competition not normally available
Distance Ed Students play hockey at the July School camp in Cairns
The young people and their parents will have an opportunity to test their hockey skills at the small games hockey competition to be held in July in Cairns. This is part of the LEARN LEAD ACHIEVE Hockey Program that supports the development of grass roots hockey programs across some of the more isolated and remote communities in Queensland.
Hook in2 Hockey - Partnership with Cairns Hockey a success
Over 100 young people completed the 2011 Cairns Hook in2 Hockey Program - a partnership between Remote Hockey Program and Cairns Hockey. Remote Hockey Indigenous Development Officers joined with Cairns RCD and club supporters in delivering fun and friendly hockey sessions based on the national Hook in2 Hockey Program
Distance Ed students continue hockey program at Laura School Camp
The new hockey program designed to assist and support students enrolled in Distance Education learn and play a team sport despite the remoteness and isolation is gaining momentum. Hockey is being included in the sporting activities associated at the Distance Education Camp at Laura in South Cape York. These students will play small games and modified competition as part of the year long program to introduce the new sport and have them gain new skills in hockey.
