Volunteer Recognition Program
State Volunteer of the Year Award
Hockey Queensland Inc invites nominations each year for Volunteer of the Year. This Award recognizes the contribution that volunteers make to the sport of hockey across Queensland
Program Generally
The Remote Program recognizes that Community sports organizations are the foundation stone of the sport system in Australia. They provide the important, accessible and affordable pathways for children and adults alike to enter our sport system and for the most part, are managed and operated by an unpaid workforce of about 1.5 million volunteers.
The Remote Program recognizes the efforts and skills of volunteers. As a result it has implemented the Volunteer Recognition Program in an effort to acknowledge and encourage volunteers who have contributed to the development, of the hockey program in remote communities through-out Queensland.
The Remote Program wishes to acknowledge significant contributions made by volunteers in remote communities who have developed, promoted, contributed and/or advanced the hockey program and increased the profile of volunteers in the community.
Areas include Coaching, Umpiring, Team Manager, Judging, Game Administration, Uniform Officer, Publicity Officer, Ground/Field Maintenance, Equipment Manager, all positions which are invaluable to the development and advancement of the Remote Hockey program on and off the field.
