Hockey Queensland Remote Hockey Program has a strong partnership with the Indigenous Studies Department of Tropical North Queensland Tafe and Tagai Tafe in the Torres Strait. The workshop builds on this relationship with a view to bettering existing programs and finding ways to satisfy future requirements.

Hockey Queensland partnered with Tropical North Queensland Tafe in April 2009 to deliver a hockey coaching accrediation course as part of the Community Recreation Course. This project accredited 12 coaches and as a result - hockey programs have advanced to Badu Island, Murray Island, Darney Island and Mobiaug Island. These Island communities joint Horn Island, Thursday Island and the NPA communities running participation and competition programs.

Hockey Queensland Remote Program also assists in the education and training of Tafe students in Cairns in the hockey programs available and tailors programs to be included as part of any assessment.
