Thursday 16th June 2011 – Carnival Day

An early start to make sure all is ready at the grounds. The students will start arriving around 10:30am but we had a couple of schools that would be arriving late. Travel up to 3 hrs to attend. So it was a bit crazy at the start due to the late schools and getting everyone ready in teams and getting the goal keeping gear on but after the first 2 games it all settled down and it ran smoothly. We had a few parents coming out to watch the kids and they had a great time cheering and supporting them.
The 2 finals we had St joseph A Cloncurry  play Djarra in the 3/4/5 and the second final we had Djarra play Camooweal in the 6/7 in both games Djarra won 2- 0 taking both finals.
At the end we had all players sitting down for the presentations with all players receiving a medal and we had prizes for certain awards during the day. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day with no problems and all the students loved the fact that they all will receive a medal

It was a great day for hockey in Mt Isa as this was their 1st carnival in 15 years.
