The Project was a partnership between the community of the Torres Strait Islands and Hockey Queensland remote Program and was co-ordinated through Tagai Tafe.
The images on the presentation sticks were painted by Tagai Tafe students and represent the sea creatures significant to the traditions and culture of the Torres Strait Islands while the hockey stick represents the new relationship between the Torres Strait community and the sport of hockey,
The Presentation Booklet was produced with the assistance of funds provided by the Queensland Government - Q150 celebrations.
The original of the artwork will be presented to the 6 international team competing at the 2009 Champion Trophy - Melbourne as part of the Remote Hockey Program Exhibit highlighting hockey programs being delivered in Indigenous and Islander communities across Queensland
