Indigenous Women from Cape York and Gulf Savannah Communities come together to strengthen 2011-2012 Hockey Program
Issues of leadership, mentoring, networking and program development will be included in the workshop to be held at Cairns Hockey 24th and 25th November 2010
Women will come together to workshop issues relating to the development, advancement and delivery of the hockey program in remote and isolated communities. These indigenous women are leaders within their community and have chosen to come together to offer a united approach to the delivery of hockey as a new opportunity with these communities.
Accreditation opportunities, competition priorities and factors such as encouraging increased school attendance, good behaviour and productivity in class will all be discussed.
Increasing communtiy capital is as important to the program as identifying the next Queensland player and issues impacting on this will be discussed and solutions offered.
Working together to find local solutions to local problems is one of the primary foundations on which the program is built.
We look forward to working together towards commun goals.
