Congratulations to Karumba Hockey Club for getting started
The small town of Karumba has formed a hockey club and 22 members signed up. The hockey club will support the hockey program leading up to the Karumba Festival of Sport and then look to play games against Normanton and other centres including a competition against Mount Isa
Remote Hockey and PCYC Partnership
Hockey will be delivered as part of PCYC programs as part of a partnership between the Hockey Qld Remote Hockey Program and PCYC in North Queensland
Remote Program and Pass Australia Partnership
Pass Australia and the Hockey Queensland Remote and Indigenous Hockey Development Program create and deliver programs which assist in the training of school aged vocation education students to deliver hockey programs as part of skills training, leadershipand community inclusion
Youth Engagement Grants - funding available
State-wide funding of $200,000 per year over three years (2010-2013) is available from the Department of Communities to assist local governments and community organisations to facilitate regional youth engagement initiatives across Queensland. The grants will provide funds to organisations so they can run forums that increase awareness of issues relevant to young Queenslanders, and support youth-led projects addressing the young people’s needs raised in these forums.
HOCKEY ASSISTING CYCLONE DEVASTED COMMUNITIES IN FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND
Remote Hockey Development Officers will join members of other sporting codes in delivering a series of sporting opportunities for the devasted community of Tully.
