Active Inclusion Program - Now Closed

What is the Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion Program about? The Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion Program supports communities by providing funding for activities and education to increase access to sport and recreation, for individuals and groups facing barriers to participation within the community.

Important dates
Funding under the Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion Program will be provided twice per year.  The dates for the funding rounds are:

Opening dates
• Round 2 – 1 September 2010 

Closing dates

• Round 2 – 15 October 2010

What type of initatives are eligible for funding?
Funding is available for initatives under the following 3 categories:

Participation initiatives
 - projects that encourage greater opportunities to be involved in sport and recreation.

Education and training programs - training activities that develop the skills of service providers.

Volunteer development and recruitment - activities that support organisations with the recruitment and retention of volunteers.  

How much funding is available for projects?
Funding for Community projects 
Funding up to $50,000 is available for projects to meet the funding categories above.

Funding for not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations
Funding is available up to a total of $5,000 across the three funding categories to build the capacity of the clubs through education and training; recruitment and retention of volunteers; and encouraging participation in sport and recreation in their community.

Who can apply?
Organisations eligible to apply include:

  • Queensland not-for-profit organisations
  • Councils
  • Queensland State schools
  • a sport or recreation body that can deliver suitable projects to the target groups.

Priorities of the Program
The following target groups are the priorities:

  • children, youth and families at risk
  • culturally and/or linguistically diverse populations
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations
  • people with a disability
  • vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
